that reminds me of one of my favorite Rich Mullins songs...Well, it took the hand of God AlmightyTo part the waters of the seaBut it only took one little lieTo separate you and meOh, we are not as strong as we think we areAnd they say that one day JoshuaMade the sun stand still in the skyBut I can't even keep these thoughtsOf you from passing byOh, we are not as strong as we think we areCHORUSWe are frailWe are fearfully and wonderfully madeForged in the fires of human passionChoking on the fumes of selfish rageAnd with these our hells and our heavensSo few inches apartWe must be awfully smallAnd not as strong as we think we areAnd the Master said their faith wasGonna make them mountains moveBut me, I tremble like a hill on a fault lineJust at the thought of how I lost youOh, we are not as strong as we think we are
wow. . . that's a powerful song. it makes me wonder what he lost? regardless, we've all lost something, even if it's our ability to love completely, perfectly, without selfish ambition. as he said--"choking on the fumes of selfish rage." right after our separation from God, the worst things is our separation from each other. we are small because of our pride. how ironic?
